Tokelau is a non-self-governing territory of New Zealand. Elections are held every 3 years to elect members to the General Fono, the national legislative body. Each of the three atolls (Atafu, Nukunonu, and Fakaofo) elects representatives. The system is community-based and reflects traditional governance structures.
