During her tenure as Former Deputy Speaker and Women Representative for North Bougainville from 2005 to 2010 and again from 2015 to 2020, she played a significant role in advocating for women’s rights and addressing key societal issues. Prior to her political career, she pursued her passion for the arts, serving as an artist, actress, and dancer from 1982 to 1987. Transitioning to journalism, she contributed to radio broadcasting as a journalist from 1987 to 2001, using her platform to raise awareness about pressing issues such as gender equality, HIV/AIDS, and violence against women. In recognition of her dedication and service, she was appointed as a Commissioner for the Bougainville Constitution Commission from 2002 to 2004 and served as Director on the Board of the National Cultural Commission from 2003 to 2006. Her commitment to addressing HIV/AIDS was further demonstrated through her role as Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on HIV/AIDS from 2005 to 2010. Her contributions to the community and the arts were acknowledged with the prestigious “Order of the British Empire” for her outstanding service to the people of Bougainville and her significant contributions to the arts. Notable among her achievements is the development of Policy on HIV/AIDS A.B.6, reflecting her commitment to addressing critical health issues in her community.
