Bio
Puakena Boreham, born on December 18, 1970, is an anesthetist and former Tuvaluan politician. After studying at the Fiji School of Medicine, she worked as an anesthetist and Medical Superintendent at Princess Margaret Hospital. In 2014, she pursued further studies in global health diplomacy at the Australian National University.
Boreham entered politics in 2015, becoming the third woman elected to Tuvalu’s Parliament. Re-elected in 2019, she served as Minister of Works and Natural Resources. In 2020, she contributed to the Constitutional Review Committee, helping shape reforms that led to the 2023 Constitution of Tuvalu Act.
