Bio
Hon. Dr. ‘Ana Taufe’ulungaki was appointed Minister for Education, Women’s Affairs, and Culture for Tonga in January 2011, despite not being a Member of Parliament. She prioritized making Tonga’s educational curricula relevant and promoting the ratification of CEDAW. She also emphasized safeguarding intangible cultural heritage. Dr. Taufe’ulungaki served on Tonga’s Constitutional and Electoral Reform Commission and held various educational roles, including Secretary of Education and Pro Vice Chancellor at the University of the South Pacific. She has been a key figure in Pacific education and women’s representation.
