Hon. Esa Sharon Mona Ainu’u, also known as Hon. Mona Ainu’u, is the sole female parliamentarian among the current Cabinet Ministers of the Government of Niue.
Hon. Mona Ainu’u represents the village of Tuapa Uhomotu in Parliament for her second term. Previously, she served as the Member Assisting Minister (MAM) for Hon. Dalton Tagelagi, who held the position of Minister for the Ministry of Natural Resources.
Ainu’u has a background in journalism, having worked with the Broadcasting Corporation of Niue and the Niuean government as a Public Relations and Media Officer. She was also involved in sports administration as the president of the Niue Island Volleyball Association and as a founding member of the Pacific Alliance of Development Journalists.
First elected to the Niue Assembly in the 2017 Niuean general election, Ainu’u has continued to serve her constituency and was appointed as Minister of Natural Resources in the Cabinet of Dalton Tagelagi. She was re-elected unopposed in the 2023 election and retained her ministerial portfolios in Tagelagi’s cabinet.
