Isabella Dageago, a Nauruan nurse turned politician, presently serves as the Minister of Health and Home Affairs in the Nauru Parliament. Following her training as a nurse, she ventured into politics and was elected as one of two Members of Parliament for Yaren District in the 2019 Nauruan parliamentary election. In her ministerial role, she has overseen Nauru’s response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, which included declaring a national emergency in March 2020. Under her leadership, Nauru achieved significant milestones in vaccination efforts, with the entire adult population receiving vaccinations by May 2021. As of August 2021, Nauru has reported no cases of coronavirus. Recently, after President David Adeang’s inauguration in October 2023, Dageago assumed a deputy minister position.
