Bio

Toki-Brown, originally from Areora on Atiu, built a successful business career alongside her husband, managing the Super Brown Mega Store. Her political journey began with her victory in the 2014 election as a Cook Islands Party candidate, where she secured the Teenui–Mapumai seat, defeating her uncle Norman George. She subsequently assumed roles such as Deputy Speaker and later transitioned to become the leader of the Opposition. Despite facing political pressures, Toki-Brown’s dedication to public service remained steadfast, leading her to contest the 2018 election as an independent candidate and securing victory against both Democratic and Cook Islands Party opponents.Throughout her tenure, Toki-Brown has played pivotal roles within the government, including serving as Minister of Health, Justice, Parliamentary Services, and Agriculture. Notably, she made history as the first woman to serve as Acting Prime Minister in July 2019. Her continued support for Mark Brown’s government and retention of key Cabinet portfolios demonstrate her enduring commitment to serving the Cook Islands community.
